  • The registration for the next Madrid 2003 Global IPv6 Summit is open (04-04-2003). (04-04-2003).

    Several IST projects will make public trials of the latest developments and progress, with new services and applications. The IPv6 Cluster is also offering a special workshop, with participation from several IST projects, about the IPv6 Deployment Learned Lessons. Several keynote speakers will cover a broad number of interesting topics, and several important announcements will be made. This will be probably the bigger international IPv6 Forum event, with expected participation of 1.000 delegates. Finally, the 1st IPv6 Applications contest Award will be delivered.

    LONDON February 19, 2003 – NTT Europe Ltd. announced today that following the success of NTT Communications of commercial service in Japan from April 2001, they are launching a full commercial IPv6 service in Europe, targeting ISPs, corporate users and research centres.

  • IIJ to Extend Trial Period for IPv6 Tunneling And Native Connectivity Services (11-03-2002).

    Internet Initiative Japan Inc. ("IIJ") today announced that the Company will extend the trial period for its IPv6 (Internet Protocol Version 6, the next generation Internet protocol) Tunneling and Native Connectivity Services to the end of March 2003 to address the changing trends in IPv6 usage in Japan. The trial period was originally set at the end of March 2002. At the same time, the service area for the IPv6 Native Service and the IPv6/IPv4 Dual Stack Service will be expanded from Tokyo to five areas around Japan, bringing IPv6 to a wider audience.

    The European Commission has called on member states to do more to propagate uptake of IPv6 in the EU. The need for widespread adoption of the latest version of the internet protocol is essential before 2005 when existing IPv4 addressing is expected to run out of space, the EC said in its latest Communication: "IPv6 Priorities for Action".
